CMS Develops Application for CMP Reinvestment for Communicative Technology
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has developed an application template for the use of Civil Money Penalty (CMP) reinvestment funds to provide residents with adaptive communicative technology to help long-term care residents stay in touch with their family and friends while visitation is restricted due to COVID-19. Such technologies include iPad, iPad Mini, Kindle Fire, Microsoft Surface, and Samsung Galaxy Tablet, a Facebook portal or any other such device as well as such accessories as protective covers that can be cleaned and disinfected, assistive/adaptive equipment, tripods, and headphones.
The CMS template is appropriate for federally licensed facilities. For state-only licensed facilities, Delaware Health and Social Services has developed a Stat-Only template.
