CMS Issues Opportunity for Long-term Care Providers to US CMP for Visitation Requipment

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is allowing long-term care providers to use Federal Civil Money Penalties (CMP) to purchase equipment to facilitate safe in-person visitation spaces to help fill residents’ psychosocial needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Facilities may apply for and use up to $3,000 in CMP dollars to purchase tents for outdoor visits and clear plexiglass dividers as visitation aids.

To receive funding, providers much submit to the Delaware Division of Health Care Quality a completed in-person visitation template, a vendor quote for the proposed equipment purchase, and an application to become a State of Delaware vendor to facilitate the reimbursement. Providers must receive approval from DHCQ before the purchase.

CMP dollars must be used for approved visitation cannot be used for such items as portable heating, fans, or lighting. A full list of prohibited items is listed in the template below.

Applications and requested materials are to be submitted to Renee Purzycki (renee.purzycki@delaware.gov). Questions should be directed to Purzycki or Abigail Brady (abigail.brady@delaware.gov) at 302-421-7420.
