A Front-Line Focus on Emergency Preparedness Compliance- “Think Like an Incident Commander”

This session will promote the importance of training all team members from senior management to front line-staff on the importance of compliance with Emergency Management regulations and best practices. Understanding that adverse incidents will likely occur when executive management is not at the facility, all team members must be familiar with Emergency Preparedness compliance requirements as they will equate to proper response and effective incident management during times of crisis and disaster.

The Essentials of Aggression Management in a Senior Living Community

Workplace violence is at near epidemic proportions in health care facilities of all types. Being able to recognize and diffuse aggressive behavior before violence erupts is of critical importance. In this program, the attendees will be introduced to the aggression continuum, which represents the six levels of behavioral changes a person typically goes through between calm and physically violent. It will also include proven deescalants when dealing with cognitively impaired residents.

Armed Intruder / Active Shooter in a LTC Facility / Senior Living Community- “The Unthinkable”

The thought of an armed intruder or active shooter in a LTC facility or senior living community is truly unthinkable. The reality is businesses and organizations that provide services to frail and elderly residents must be prepared to respond and recover from these types of violent events. This session will focus on the importance of preparedness as well as the critical options known as “The Four Outs” that can be considered to survive, “The Unthinkable.”
