FEATURED EDUCATION SESSION:

Empowering Care-Partners Through Experiential Learning: Turning Knowledge and Understanding into ACTION for Change

Led by Julie Boggess of AGE-u-cate™ Training Institute

Attendees will engage in conversation sharing challenges connected to caring for people living with dementia. After obsering in a mini dementia simulation experience, where each person’s senses will be altered (use of glasses, gloves, and noise) in a way that mimics what it might be like to live with dementia, each attendee will be able to reflect in guided small groups to brainstorm approaches for improving quality of life for people living with dementia as well as their care-partners connected to identified challenges.  Attendees will receive an Empowerment Tool and Huddle Guide connected to building communication skills to support further learning and conversation.  The session will conclude by sharing data on benefits of combining experiential learning with microlearning strategies, including video testimonials, pictures and best practices from industry providers.  A connection will be made to what attendees have experienced in the session to reinforce the benefits of the session topic.
