Training for Temporary Nurse Assistants to CNA
Individuals who completed the ACHA/NCAL eight-hour, online temporary nurse aide training course may apply for admission and funding for certified nurse aide education. All facilities must coordinate the training through Aleen Wilker – Aleen.Wilker@delaware.gov . Funding is not guaranteed. It is important to pursue funding as quickly as possible.
Dawn Career Institute (certified nurse aide training program) and The Ministry of Caring have established a coordinated effort to provide nurse aide education and funding. An individual must contact Michael Sullivan at (302) 652-5522 to request interest in the CNA program per referral of Aleen Wilker. The individual will then interview with Mike Glanz, Director of Dawn Career Institute. Dawn Career Institute is located at 252 Chapman Road, Suite 100, Newark, DE 19702. Each candidate must complete a minimum of 67 classroom hours and 16 clinical hours under school faculty supervision.
Dawn Career Institute runs classes every four weeks. The first opening for new candidates is June 28, 2021.
Each candidate may apply for funding through the Delaware Department of Labor. Each candidate must visit https://joblink.delaware.gov and click on the training providers tab. They can also call the local office (there may be a long wait) or visit https://vocal.delaware.gov/ to be connected to a live chat person. Once each candidate is connected to a case manager, please report your referral was by Aleen Wilker.

Delaware Skills Center, 500 Ships Landing Way, New Castle, DE 19720 and www.deskillscenter.org. The next available class runs Monday thru Friday from 9 am- 3 pm, July 6 thru August 6, 2021. There are 24 training seats available. This program will have evening session available at the end of August.
