SBI Opens Saturday Fingerprinting For Healthcare Staff

The State Bureau of Investigation will be offering Saturday walk-in services at their Dover Blue Hen Corporate Center location for healthcare staff on the below dates/times:

  • Saturday, July 18th
    • 8:00am – 12:00pm
  • Saturday, July 25th
    • 8:00am – 12:00pm
  • Saturday, August 1st
    • 8:00am – 12:00pm

Upon arrival, clients must:

  • Maintain social distancing guidelines, which includes maintaining a line outside the lobby at 6 ft intervals
  • Wear a face mask while awaiting service
  • Utilize available hand sanitizer
  • Possess proper forms for the service requested
  • Inform SBI staff if they currently have an appointment scheduled to permit rescheduling of that appointment time
  • Offer payment via cash, money order, business check, or credit card:
    • No personal checks
    • No American Express

Employers should advise employees:

  • Not to expect or demand service after 12:00pm
    • SBI staff must secure the lobby to complete service for those within the facility and complete end-of-shift data entry that expedites additional important related processes.
  • Provide a roster of employees committed to responding on a given Saturday by the Wednesday of that week (please forward a roster for this Saturday by 12pm Friday (7/17))
    • This roster will permit SBI to cross reference their scheduled appointments for overlap and offer a level of accountability.

SBI anticipates servicing appx. 80 individuals each Saturday if intended clientele takes full advantage of the service.

Please have interested employers email SBI Assistant Director Lisa Voss (Lisa.Voss@delaware.gov) with the roster of employees for the upcoming Saturday by the deadlines above.

About the backlog you have been experiencing: If you have applicants who have been fingerprinted for a long-term care position within the last six months, there is an option in the BCC to allow the applicant to bypass the fingerprinting. However, if the information was  — or is — input incorrectly, that history record may not show up. The state police are also reporting that 75 applicants in the last few days did not show up for appointments, adding to the delay. Developing a reminder system for their appointment, or a cancelling the appointment if they are not able to make it is one of the ways we can assist with the backlog.
