A cybersecurity breach affects not only your resident/patient records, but also your employee records and entire operation. Learn to find vulnerability, prepare and respond to a potential attack. The Change Healthcare Cyberattack that is currently impacting healthcare providers across the country is amplifying the need for all providers to understand, and take seriously, cybersecurity.

This exercise will provide participants with an opportunity to evaluate their current response concepts, plans, and capabilities and further identify enhancements to a cyber-based threat. It will focus on the preparedness, sustainability, and response of long-term care facilities during a cyber-based threat and the function of their Emergency Operations Plan, Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Providers will have the opportunity to enhance their understanding of key issues associated with a focused cyber-attack, including coordination and information sharing amongst government agencies in response to such an attack. They will strategize with peers through the sharing of personal experiences and lessons learned.

Learning Objectives:

  • Planning — Review and evaluate your LTC’s NIMS compliant Hazard Vulnerability Analysis (HVA), Emergency (SOPs) for cyber-related emergencies; and assess the preparedness policies, plans and procedures related to this event.
  • Communications — Review and evaluate your LTC’s communication plans and procedures that enables interoperable communications to provide advanced customer service, reliability, and operational effectiveness; assess your LTC’s ability to maintain situational awareness; and policies for backup/alternate communication methods including information technology plans and systems protection procedures.

This will be delivered via Zoom including breakout rooms. DHCFA has requested 2.5 total participant hours from NAB -NCERS and the Delaware Board of Nursing. To receive credit, you must attend the entire session
