Fingerprinting Update

Division of Health Care Quality (DHCQ) will be hosting two temporary locations for ink fingerprinting. Fingerprinting will be by appointment only. No walk-ins will be accepted.  The temporary fingerprinting locations and procedures are as follows:

• New Castle County: DHCQ, 263 Chapman Road, Cambridge Building, Suite 200, Newark, DE 19702
• Sussex County: Adams State Service Center, 546 S. Bedford St., Room #1521, Georgetown, DE 19947 
• Call 302-421-4700 to schedule an appointment.
• Each individual being fingerprinted must come to their appointment prepared with:
  • Completed Background Check Center (BCC) Form
  • Money order or business check in the amount of $85.00 made payable to the Delaware State Police. Other forms of payment will not be accepted.
  • Photo Identification
• Arrive at the selected location.
  • Newark:
    • Park only in parking spots designated for the DHCQ.
    • Report to the receptionist

• • Georgetown: Report to Room #1521.
• Appointment will be rescheduled if:
  • The individual is later than 5 minutes past the scheduled appointment time.
  • The individual does not have both the completed BCC Form and acceptable form of payment.

After the fingerprints are completed, the packet including the fingerprint card, BCC form and payment will be sent to the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) for processing.

• Please note that the Dover SBI location is available for walk-in fingerprinting. Having the fingerprinting complete at the Dover SBI is the preferred method due to the ability to complete digital fingerprints and this option does allow for quicker processing.
• The fingerprinting through the background check center and the fingerprinting at the Newark and Georgetown location is only for the purposes of employment for individuals working for providers licensed by the Division of Health Care Quality and required to use the background check center.
• The number to make fingerprinting appointment typed incorrectly. The correct number is: 302-421-7400.
• This fingerprinting does not serve to qualify for Gainwell (for those required to go through Gainwell for reimbursement enrollment purposes).  They are keeping the Dover location open until 7 pm on Wednesdays. They are evaluating how much the extended hours are utilized and depending on the usage, they will determine their path forward. The Division of Health Care Quality is working on additional locations in New Castle and Sussex counties to increase access. We will keep you posted
