CDC Launches NHSN Long-term Care Facility COVID-10 Module for Reporting
The Center for Disease Control has launched its Long-term Care Facilities COVID-19 Module for reporting as part of its National Health Care Safety Network. CMS is requiring that long-term care facilities report weekly using this module, beginning May 8. This means the first report is due May 17 by 11:59 pm. Facilities have been granted a two-week grace period for reporting. Any facility that has not reported by 11:59 pm on May 31 will receive a warning letter; by June 11:59 pm penalties will kick in.
Facilities are advised to download the four data collection pathway forms and instructions now and begin the registration process now if you haven’t already. NHSN is reporting a 24-28 hour lag time between the initial registration and beginning to use the module. Start collecting the data now for upload to NHSN once the process is complete
The four data collection pathway forms are:
- Resident Impact and Facility Capacity
- Staff and Personnel Impact
- Supplies and Personal Protective Equipment
- Ventilator Capacity and Supplies
