This training will present a person-centered training philosophy that is successful with dementia as well as other comorbidities in long-term care settings. It will highlight a truly person, evidence-based approach called CARES® and identify why this approach works when used by staff on a daily basis with every interaction they have. In addition to improved interactions with residents, increased job efficiency, this approach will also help with retention of staff and over satisfaction of care.

Learning Objectives

After this training, the attendee will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of person-centered dementia training and why this program works
  • Define what CARES® stands for and how it impacts staff and resident interactions
  • Understand the Common Approach and the CARES® Approach and why the Common approach often is not successful
  • Identify ways this training can impact staff retention and staff, resident and family satisfaction
